My mother had a very good personality during her 60's and 70's and she
has a good one now at 83 even tho she has alz. My father in law, age
78, now has dementia (possibly alz). He has had a horrible
personality ever since he was in his fifties and is very mean. Based
upon what I know about dementia I imagine his meanness will continue
throughout his dementia. He has a sister with alz and she has been
violent. I never see him anymore but I fear that my wife may want to
visit him in the nursing home if he doesnt get kicked out. He hates
both me and my wife even tho we have always been good to him. Has
anyone had any experience with very mean men with horrible
personalities having alz? What is the best way to handle a visit with
such a person? Should you get the nursing home staff to escort you?
I think he would be an excellent test case for euthenasia, but thats
illegal so its not an option.

Its simply not worthwhile generalizing, as different bits of the brain cease
to function, anything may happen.
