Hi!
A friend down the block has recently had her Mom tested for some sort of
diminished capacity (not sure what it is, yet). The PET scan showed no
atrophy at all while a full day neuro-psych test clearly showed diminished
capability.
Anyone come across this before?

Hi Adelle,
All of John's tests---Ct's, MRI, Pet Scan showed nothing to indicate AD
or other dementia. Six months after the Pet Scan, which was done in PR,
John had the neuro-pysch test here in MS. On that test he performed
below expectations for his IQ. The psychologist was also going on his
diagnosis based on all of the technical work John had been doing before
he got sick & other info from us. Last year, a repeat of the test
showed more decline; this year we won't be doing one.
Also, the last time he saw his neurologist, we left with the option of a
brain biiopsy since all tests showed nothing---we declined.
Always,
Char

My Dad had an MRI that revealed very little atrophy and then when he
died, a cranial autopsy. I had the opportunity to speak directly with
the pathologist in charge and received the reports directly--her first
comment was that "this is not the brain of an AD sufferer". She was
right, he had Lewy-body dementia--something which fit the symptoms in
20/20 hind-sight! :-(
Darryl.
