I wonder how many of you know about the assistance programs for low-income
seniors that some drug companies have in place.

Seniors who make unde $25K a year can be eligible for free pills from the
Aricept Assistance program.  You can find out about it on pfizer.com.  I've
applied for assistance to the drug companies for Zyprexa and Nameda too.

I know about his as I was able to get help for my bipolar and anxiety
meds when I didnt have insurance. It is a great help that many are not
aware they can get.  All you have to do is contact the drug company for
an application. After you fill out your part the doctor fills out his
and as you say if the income is below 25 thousand you will probably
qualify

No matter what kind of minimal assistance program they offer it
still doesn't make up for the GREED that these slimeballs
practice, as they continue to rip off the American public and
taxpayers while buying off Congress to protect their
unconscionable profits!

Everyone in this country is being screwed by these bastards.  If
I had my way every damn drug and insurance company lobbyist in DC
would be tarred, feathered, and dumped in Cheseapeake Bay.

I agree, but not here in the Chesapeake Bay.

sorry, it was the nearest large body of water.  maybe i should
have said "DC sewer treatment plant", which would have been much
more appropriate.

Be that as it may, I thought that some people here might have loved ones who
could benefit from free meds.

Also, just asking your doctor if he has samples can work.  I know a
guy that has gotten his Aricept free like that for 3 years, and
another soul that has about half her Reminyl like that.

Illinois can now get some drugs cheaper through Canada ... I'm in
favor of Medicare being able to negotiate price the way Canada does,
but it does seem some capitalist greed has produced more good drugs
than other systems.  The way politicians are bought and sold is an
issue on many fronts.

Some companies will provide families with what are called "compassion
drugs."  They're drugs that are being tested, and the families must be
willing to sign forms guaranteeing that they will not hold the company
responsible for any negative effects produced by the drug.
