Lately my mom is up a big share of the night talkng to people that are
not there.Sometimes not even makng sense.Last night she about drove me
nuts.I am praying tonight is better. So far so good.Is there anything i
can do to stop this at least a little? It is not cause she sleeps
during the day as yesterday she did not sleep at all.Maybe over
tired?????Today of course she napped. So did I.LOL I hate to say it but i
really wish she would get past this stage. It's so darn tiring.Thank

There are medications that can reduce the delusions, and help her
sleep.  Talk to her doctor.

Hi Barb,

I sympathize.  Delusions that happen at night are especially unpleasant, I
know.   We got up over and over again while Ida searched for "the baby" that
didn't exist, or her little dog that died, or wanted to go out and feed the
"cows" she imagined hadn't been fed.  (we don't have any cows and never have
had any)   She constantly experienced worry about things she needed to do,
or had misplaced.

They lessened somewhat when the doctor gave her risperdol, and then we would
give her one Tylenol PM at bedtime too, and even still occasionally the
delusions would come.

It did pass over time, but she also lost a great deal of her abilities too,
so it isn't something to look forward to.

Hi Barb,
Try giving her a rest period during the day for a week or so to
see if she is getting to much stimulation during the day. It
could be that, almost like a kid. Try that first to see if it
works.
