I think there is a correction needed in the article ...
The risk for ADHD [sic, obesity] among those who were currently
receiving medications was only about 0.5-times higher than children
without ADHD."

"The results of prior research has suggested that the impulsivity and
poor behavioral regulation that is common in children with ADHD may
promote certain eating patterns that increase the risk of obesity"
*DING* ... No kidding.
1.5 times MORE LIKELY! ... So what about the 'hYPer activity', huh?
Oh, I know .. and don't bother telling me. .. Non hyperactive type
. *BUZZ* .. wrong.
The hyperactivity is represented by being tense, tight assed, over
controlled, butterfingers, tripping over one's feet in over controlled
co-ordination ( .. NOT an inherent lack of co-ordination)
... insufficient self discipline ... lack of consistent resolve to
make-the-effort ... etc. .. etc.
In general 'physical activity' of the sort that other kids enjoyed
wasn't very fun.
Hmm ... I wonder how many $100Ks they will waste on discovering that
one?
I hate cognitive scientists. They are incompetent idiots who are
incapable of discerning the 'leading edge' of a 'perception' from its
arsehole conclusion. ... The stupid gits lack the requisite
psychotic skill to be able to discern it!
Psychotically,
Raving
( Get it yet?, huh?, maybe?, eh? .... Raving ... a.k.a. distorting
flux in awareness ... 'emphasis', etc.)
... Cognitive scientists make me want to puke. They are stupid,
ignorant, insensitive twerps.
Oops! .. I had better be careful. The reason that cognitive scientists
bugger things up so badly is that they tend lack 'distortion' in their
awareness. I.E. They are NOT ADHD, NOR schizophrenia style
'thinkers'.
Quadruple Bonus points: How are ADHDers distinct and different to
schizophrenics ?
Hint: Unless one is 'distortion aware' (psychosis aware) they will
have difficulty in splitting a single vague, concept of 'psychosis'
into multiples processes.
So what is it like to have ADHD? ... If you don't like 'reality' the
way that it appears, then wait 10 minutes to 10 days and it will be a
whole *new* and different experience. .. An endless, hard-to-remember
journey of discovery and learning.
