Poor thing. Cannot seem to catch up with those people who have started
looking beyond what she was "taught". Dark age medicine always fights better
Medicine. So Hawki, fight on, old girl, fight on. Don't let it get to your
liver though. ( Ask Andrew about emotions and the liver.)

thanks for the half assed apology

one thing I have learned in my 45 years of medicine,,is that knowledge does
indeed change..advance..and sometimes what we "thought" was the only way is
misproven

I am knowledgable enuf to accept change...as long as it is proven to be
better

in this case of dialysis etc...this hit on a nerve...perhaps if the OP had
asked me help PRIOR to reaching end stage...it would not have hit such a
nerve..but he was already on dialysis...

Not knocking your experience. I tend to think that there is much more to be
found / learned than most can imagine. I hope that Medicine can find and
learn much more than is currently accepted as the best or the only way by
anyone. Alti or not. I have a knee-jerk reaction with the idea that this is
the ONLY way. I just wish that medics of all types could work closely side
by side and learn each others best stuff. None have all the answers all the
time. SO! back to the guy with the problem. I doubt that he is going to
jump off the cliff on this. I would hope he would find a helpful doctor ( I
use the term very loosely ) who would be able to assist in his quest. Keep
your eyes and ears open to things better than we already know / believe.

Spell checked for those with so sorry a life that typos are important to
them. Ah! I'm back!

dialysis is ONLY started when one is end stage....ESRD...Medicare pays for
it after one year

if he is on dialysis ..he is in end stage...

he likely has never heard that term..he will once he applies for "dialysis
medicare"...passed in 1972 to pay for dialysis for those in end stage..

If I said "above knee prosthesis" would I also have to say "above knee
amputee"?

Of course not. Sometimes the treatment says it all.

Of course not. Sometimes the treatment says it all.

The problem is that many get dialysis when they don't need it and or more
often than necessary or without being checked to see if required by second
opinion or any attempt to get the kidneys healthier before "end stage".

I haven't seen numbers but considering the 10s of thousands of heart
operations that are useless etc. etc.

unless you have proof of such...your opinion means nothing

again..in 18  years..I never saw or knew of a person started on dialysis
that did not need it....

you still don't seem to grasp the breadth of preparation required before
dialysis is started..forget "second opinions"...most have seem multiple
specialists..surgeons to implant the access devices...etc etc

again..dialysis is NOT ordinary run of the mill treatment...it IS the last
step before death due to "end stage renal failure"

Correctly or incorrectly on dialysis.

I suppose it is possible..but not likely

dialysis is not started without all kinds of tests etc...

in all my years...I have never known of ONE person started on dialysis who
didn't need it (exception is acute renal failure..which is reversible)
