Some years ago i was given a poem titled, "Snails, entrails and puppy
dogs tails". [About witchery]
Recently i have noticed that various common names for herbs are named
for example, "Cats Claw", "St Johns Wart". I was curious to know
whether there are other odd names for herbs that cure ailments. If
so...my question would be..."did the socalled witches of the old
England get persecuted because they were using oddly named herbs to
cure ailments". Were they're ideas rejected as pegan in a time where
religion was a dominant force? Now western medicine is taken by some
to be the ONLY hope...and herbs are still somewhat underrated...
The point is that we may be still adjusting our ideology regarding the
potential of herbs even after several centuries because i still sense
that herbs are perceived somewhat as the domain of the minority group
named "Naturopaths". Or, is this not true anymore?

The drug companies do all the "thinking" for the orthodox medical
providers. Remember all herbs have their trivial/common names
and  their Linnaenan/scientific names. Mainstream medicine
has always been competing with more traditional medicine.
Look at its historical roots.
What both need is more science and less drug company influence
and less ideology. And don't expect governments and bureaucrats
to make the situation better. Remember most people
function at the level of 12 years who gone thru early puberty
and this includes your university white shirt wearing
educated professionals as well as the unwashed masses
of high schools grads.

The earth turns, but the world of mankind stays
largely static. What progess that has been made
has been slow and halting even as development
has gone wildly down the road like a blind drunk
in tank.
