Here's my last attempt to bring peace to the forum for the month of
April. I will continue to try--- as the months roll by, but if
everyone would think about their participation to this forum, we could
attempt to further agree to disagree.
As this is a consumer based newsgroup --- not everyone is a "rocket
scientist," and the level of communication in this newsgroup is
"consumer level," not scientific gibberish. What is insulting to some
is the scientific gibberish that some engage in - in this newsgroup
that sends people away. It is easy to see why some of this kind of
talk is brought to the table, and that would be for the sole intent of
making people feel unwelcome here -- when they ask consumer based
questions, and get scientific gibberish. This newsgroup should never
be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, and those
that speak in scientific gibberish should never be taken seriously as
the information that is presented by the scientific gibberish group
may be biased and may not be the same information that one's own
healthcare practitioner may agree with. Always check with your
healthcare professional before engaging in any type of alternative
health care remedies.
Everyone is welcome here despite their level of medical knowledge, as
this is a consumer based newsgroup. There is a MHA charter, and by
adhering to that charter, in the discussion of alternative health care
topics, insults, flames, are not appreciated by any "side."
Crossposting to several newsgroups creates a mess. There are only a
handful of alternative health care newsgroups, and in cross posting to
other newsgroups all this does incite flame wars. If you are seeking
attention or credibility in other newsgroups - post directly there --
and stay within the topic here.
Seeing people's name in a thread is really at the third grade level.
All it does is incite flame wars, and the need to defend one's self by
coming back at the individual that "started it," in the first place.
The discussion should be about the topic. People's names are not the
topic, what they have to say about a certain product or therapy is the
topic. if you do not like what they have written, write about your
opinion of the topic, not your opinion of them, or their way of
thinking. When one "takes swings" at people because they do not agree
with their way of thinking, we are all human, and the need to defend
oneself comes back. It is pretty common knowledge when people are
unhappy with their lives, or are jealous or the accomplishments others
have made in life, or have been compared to their siblings all of
their lives..."why cannot you be successful like your brother Daniel
is, or your sister Susie or your cousin Jack, or your Uncle Walt, or
your Aunt Grace, or your father was?" When you grow up hearing that
all of your life, you assume it is true, and the need to be credible
or responsible for what you have done or haven't done in life hits
people when they are in mid life. Attempting to be someone other than
the person that you are, and doing in a newsgroup is one way that some
people cope with the mechanism of their negative thoughts that they
are a failure.
Everyone has gifts and every one brings something to the table.
There are no failures in life, there are people are people that love
to compare themselves to others, and have others look up to them for
"what they did for mankind."
I was reading an article this a.m. while the vampires were
attempting to find my veins at my local medical clinic, about how
screwed up the FDA is in Reader's Digest for April 2008. I was
fascinated to see that some drugs are passed through in 6 months but
it costs money for "speed service." When I was waiting for my doctor
to review the tests from the lab, we were talking about the screwed up
FDA, and she has an interest in alternative health care; she takes
classes from a local university every year on another topic of
alternative healthcare. She said, "Conventional medicine does not
have all of the answers, despite the spin marketing campaign that it
claims it does; we need to work together instead of working against
each other."
That's exactly what transpires here -- we post against each other,
instead of working together with each other, and understanding each
other's point of view.
It is just like the questionable websites; that is not saying a
whole lot about those of us that support alternative health care
research, nor is it saying a lot of about the individuals that post
against alternative healthcare. Would it not be nice to just take
them all down and move on and leave the past behind? Would it be
possible to work together for a better health system?
This is my last peace negotiation effort for April. Would it be
possible to remove the websites of the posters that post here that
actually hurt the cause of supporting all aspects of medicine, whether
it be conventional or alternative or complementary and just move on?
Thank you.
