Scientific Fact: NEITHER the body NOR the soul needs sleep (PL-
translation included) - {HRI note 20060907-V2.0-PL}

(Tentative translation by me into Pig Latin, simplified - begin:)

Mrs. Mary Guin-Ness living in Greenwich, near London,
reported indeed factually, that it was wholly dark
           outside, while

Mr. John Four-Eks in Sydney, Australia, told factually,
the opposite, however, namely, that it was full day
           outside.

Upon which scientist Mr. Masaru Emoto, in Yokohama, Japan,
suggested to them, to consider the possibility, that the
shape of the Earth on which they live, might have a form
that is - seen from an overall or wider viewpoint -
different than the meadows and the beaches that they are
           used to enjoy themselves on.

Whereupon the renowned sociopath James Randi offered
a million dollars to anyone who would prove to him, that
'the Earth is NOT flat.' So far, he has never paid out the
amount, as it is not his intention to HAVE scientific
proof, but to destroy and deny any and all evidence
           - opposed to any understanding of life and of nature as he
is - in particular opposed to his own nature (that of a
           vocal sociopath) being understood.

(Tentative translation into Pig Latin, simplified - end.)

Medical Profession Fails To Destroy Man's Awareness - Being Awake And
Staying Awake - versus - Being Told "You Need Sleep!"

Again,* if others told you this,
then I would not have to, and I
could go sailing and do other
things you know I enjoy, like art
and music and some Fine Particle
                                   Physics research for you.

'

I quote: **

As song birds at dawn on the farm awaken the early risers,
     one person is already up;

in fact, he never slept - not once in the past 33 years.

     '

You'd think, going without sleep for that long may have its
drawbacks, but not for the man in Vietnam's central Quang Nam
     province,

who has never been ill after decades of staying awake.

     '

His ability to stay awake has not only made him famous, but also
represents a phenomenon worthy of study.

     '

     '

Sixty-four-year-old Vietnamese citizen Thai Ngoc, known as Hai
Ngoc, said he stayed awake permanently after running a fever in
1973, *(1) and counted more than 11,700 consecutive days of
     staying awake.

Proving his health as a farmer, as an elderly resident of the
Que Trung farming commune, in the Que Son district,

he still can carry two 50 kg (100 pound) bags of
fertilizer down 4 km (2.5 miles) of road, walking home,
           every day.

     '

     '

Mr. Ngoc currently lives on his 5 ha (12 acres) farm at the foot
of a mountain, busy with farming and taking care of pigs and
chickens all day. His six children live at their house in Que
     Trung.

Ngoc often does extra farm work, or guards his farm at night to
prevent theft, and said it took him three months, using the
extra time of nights, to dig two large ponds to raise fish.

His neighbor, by the name of Vu, said Ngoc volunteered the help
of beating the funeral drum during the night, and to guard the
house of the relatives of the dead, so that these could
     take a nap.

Neighbor Vu also said, that when the farming commune was
planting sugar cane, several people asked Ngoc to awaken them at
midnight to go to work, since he was up anyway.

       **  Quoted from, and

by removing the usual political and traditional
terminology that enforces the viewpoint, that

'the lowest common average of things does establish
what "is true" and what "is normal",' *(5)

an enforcement which we know so well from the
                       Medical tradition

                       - characterized as it is by Medical arrogance,
while it is strewn with the very Medical
                         evil, with its intentional ignorance,

its horrors so well exemplified by the
                             Semmelweiss case,

                         an intentional ignorance so forcefully
covered by their arrogance - *(2)

now edited out by me, thus

enhancing and validating a benign, very well-meaning
           newspaper article, entitled

(5) Vietnam Man Handles Three Decades Without Sleep

As songbirds awaken the early risers at dawn on the farm, one resident
is already up; in fact, he never slept - not once in the past 33
years.

You'd think, going without sleep for that long, may have its
drawbacks, but not for the man in central Quang Nam province who has
never been ill after decades of insomnia.

His inability to sleep has not only made him famous, but also
represents a "miraculous" phenomenon worthy of scientific study.

Sixty-four-year-old Thai Ngoc, known as Hai Ngoc, said he could not
sleep at night after getting a fever in 1973, and has counted infinite
numbers of sheep during more than 11,700 consecutive sleepless nights.

"I don't know whether the insomnia has impacted my health or not. But
I'm still healthy and can farm normally like others," Ngoc said.

Proving his health, the elderly resident of Que Trung commune, Que Son
district said, he can carry two 50kg bags of fertilizer down 4km of
road to return home every day.

His wife said, "My husband used to sleep well, but these days, even
liquor cannot put him down."

She said, when Ngoc went to Da Nang for a medical examination, doctors
gave him a clean bill of health, except a minor decline in liver
function.

Ngoc currently lives on his 5ha farm at the foot of a mountain, busy
with farming and taking care of pigs and chickens all day. His six
children live at their house in Que Trung.

"I have tried sleeping pills and Vietnamese traditional medicine but
nothing helps, even to sleep for a few minutes," he said.

Creature Of The Night

Ngoc often does extra farm work or guards his farm at night to prevent
theft, saying he used three months of sleepless nights to dig two
large ponds to raise fish.

Neighbor Vu said, Ngoc volunteered to help beat a drum during the
night and guard the house for the relatives of the dead during funeral
ceremonies, so that they could take a nap.

Vu also said, when the commune was planting sugar cane, several people
also asked Ngoc to awaken them at midnight to go to work, since he was
up anyway.

On Ngoc's prolonged insomnia, Phan Ngoc Ha, director of the Hoa Khanh
Mental Hospital in Danang said, "sleep disorders often cause anorexia,
lethargy, and irritability."

But, in special cases, some people can handle it and still live and
work normally, although this was a very small ratio among insomniacs,
Ha added.

The people you cited are the exception not the rule.  Sleep is
important because it is time for the body to heal, consolidate memory,
and to just overall recover.  Lack of sleep can result in cognitive
deficiencies and also in time for your body to recover.  I don't know
why you are so offended that people are challenging this.
