In addition to the recalling of potentially dangerous canned goods, it
is ALWAYS advisable to inspect individual cans before opening.  Make
sure they are not bulging, or appear somewhat abnormal.  Also, heating
thoroughly, can eliminate "some" danger that may exist in all
processed foods.

Personally, I try to eat fresh foods when at all possible. . .But even
then, understanding the danger that came from the spinich fields last
year, even eating fresh, is not without peril.

Good advice to check the cans. I'll suggest another two or three
things.
First, write a date on canned tomato products as if they get pushed
back and not used in a timely fashion, the acid can eat thru
and cause food spoilage. Second avoid canned goods unless
you can't do without them, as canned goods have can lacquer
contamination issues, IMO. And metal stock for cans used
in pet food may not be the same grade as for humans.
So be careful not to kill the pet. It is better cook the dog's
foods yourself. Just don't feed the dog onion and put
in the occassional vitamin D supplement.

You linked this to breast implants forum?  Talk about
off topic. Are women using canned goods instead of silicone implants
now?

Ha, ha, ha.....that was a 'yoke', huh?
Seriously, women healing from the physical affects of silicone breast
implants are very conscious about health improvement and safe guards.

Shhhh!. . .Don't give those breast implant manufacturers any ideas!
They've already tried just about everything else, including the
imfamous tofu tities.

But, I guess they don't call 'em "cans" for nothing;-)

Many of the women harmed by breast implants continue to look for ways
to improve their health, after having their bodies robbed of good
health, from a very bad decision!

Actually, this topic is quite on topic, for them as well!

But if the cans had been contaminated with live HIV virus there would
be no recall and the government would spend a trillion dollars on a
campaign to convince consumers it was safe to eat.

It would be.  HIV would never survive the canning process and you
can't be infected by eating it anyway.

I never buy canned chili or canned beans.  Don't like the taste.
