Yes, Mr. Probert ... any innocent woman who had looked him up would have
found nothing ... this is what an earlier article exposed on him:  drug
addiction and writing scripts for others ...

So much for the "addiction expert" ... and the Board ending his probation.

Gilliland's medical license was suspended in March 2005 and he went
into substance-abuse therapy, his attorney, Matt Hennessy, said last
year.

Gilliland was diagnosed with "opiate dependence" after having problems
with the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners in 1997. According to
board records, he wrote prescriptions for family members for such
drugs as Valium, Ambien, hydrocodone and diet pills.

The board placed Gilliland on four years' probation in August 1998,
forbidding him from consuming alcohol or addictive drugs. The board
ended his probation in 2001, a year early, at the recommendation of
the addiction expert monitoring him.

Note from Ilena: What really upsets me about this tragedy ... is that
the Texas Medical Board knew for probably a decade about his
addictions... yet they allowed him to continue operating on trusting
patients.

This, while the 'quackbusters' go on vendettas against the licenses of
fine doctors who believe in  healing modalities they disagree with ...
or the existence of Multipile Chemical Sensitivity. This has gone on
for years ... and their attacks ar with a  vengence to  destroy the
doctor's lives.

Dr.Sinaiko is but one example ...

Yet known addicts like this Houston PS ... and others I know of in San
Diego area, continue their PS practices for years and years with the
medical board's approval.

I wonder what would have happened if a member of one of the Board
members families was affected....

Here is what Texas has on him now:

Licensee Name MARK DOUGLAS GILLILAND
License Status DELINQUENT-NON PAYMENT
License Number G2088
License Type MD
Address NOT IN PRACTICE

Birthdate 1952
Original License Date 19 Aug 1979
License Expiration Date 30 Nov 2005
Education UNIV OF KANSAS SCH OF MED, KANSAS CITY
Specialty1 PLASTIC SURGERY
Board Actions: Contact Board

The only real tip-off that there is a significant history is the last
line. If there were no Board Actions, the line would read:

"Board Actions: No information on file"

Truly anti-patient, IMNSHO, and should be changed.
