"The 'victory over epidemics' was not won by medical science or by

result of technical, social and hygienic improvements and especially of
improved nutrition.  Here the role of the potato...deserves special

Why are un-vaccinated travellers more likely to bring back diseases?

Going on history it is either a lie or not true,

I say it's a lie. Your anti-vac BS that is. Come to think of it, make
that everything on whale.to, except maybe the time of day.

Brilliant analysis, you should consider publishing.  A comic strip,
that is.

Obviously, PeterB hasn't been to whaleto. Oh, I forgot, it's where he
does his research....

As for 'brilliant analysis', we need only look at 'it is either a lie
or not true'. Bless.

That's purely anecdotal; it proves nothing.

John was asking a question which lends itself to an anecdotal answer.

There is no question that improved hygiene, sanitation and nutrition have
had a major effect of limited mortality from disease. However, the data
clearly show that the lack or great decrease in the incidence of measles,
mumps, rubella-related birth defects, chicken pox, small-pox, polio,
Hib-invasive disease and other  illnesses is because of vaccination.

This, like nearly everything from whaleto, is utter nonsense. ". . . the
role of the potato . . ."?

Actually, improved hygiene and sanitation at the turn of the century was one
of the CAUSES of the polio epidemic in the U.S. Only the vaccines by Salk
and later Sabin brought the incidence down to the nearly-eradicated status
it has today.

Smallpox was eradicated by vaccination, and to claim otherwise is an insult
to the determined doctors who hunted down and blotted out (with vaccines)
the last few pockets and outbreaks of this dredful disease.

Everyone except John, La Lollipop and PeteyB are well aware that
whale.to is a joke. PeteyB actually appears to use it as a research
tool.

Poor Jan. Unable to deal with facts so she just hurls out FALSE
accusations of lying. Jan Drew *knows* that polio is much more severe
when older children contract it. And she knows that  improved
sanitation increased the age at which children contracted this
illness. And the reason she knows it is because she has repeatedly
seen it posted here.

But since Jan is an incorrigible liar she just cannot help herself.
Jan Drew accuses others of not respecting the Ten Commandments and
taking the lords name in vain. Sadly she seems to forget that she
continues to lie and bear false witness against others and when this
is pointed out to her she lies and bears false witness some more.

Jan Drew still has not provided a shred of evidence that a doctor who
she claims lost his license has lost his license. I wonder why that
is? It is because Jan Drew LIED and she KNOWS IT! This is why she
ignores my posts which confront her about this lie. If she had proof
you can be very sure she would post it.

Jan Drew thinks I am that doctor whose license she claims was lost.
That is why she lied. Of course the fact that she thinks I am Jewish
plays a very big part in her lying about me. It is ironic. Jan DRew
says that lying comes second nature to Jews. Is Jan DRew Jewish??

When you delete the last two words of the former subject, as I did, it
sure does look like it is.

Actually it did not cause the polio epidemic but it sure made it much
worse. Polio contracted at a very young age tends to be much less
severe compared to older children becoming infected. As a result of
improved sanitation, the average age of contracting polio increased.
You do the math.

This is undisputeable fact that is very well documented.

Refrigeration, as in refrigerators, along with a vastly improved food
distribution system now allows people to eat fresh watermelon 12 months
of the year, if they so desire. That is what is responsible for most of
the decline in deaths, NOT vaccinations.  I have the evidence on my web
site, on my history web pages.

The science want-a-bees have my condolences.

Bless. The ignorant little racist hasn't noticed that science came up
with refrigeration.

Nor that the 'victory over epidemics' was won by vaccination,
regardless of the decrease in mortality for some vaccine-preventable
diseases before its introduction.
Nor that deaths still occur in the well-fed West when outbreaks of
vaccine-preventable diseases occur.
Nor that vaccination is still a massive lifesaver in places where
people still commonly die of diseases such as measles.

Still, he wouldn't care about those people. Many of them aren't even
white.

He's just a little bit right about refrigerators playing a role. They made
it possible to preserve vaccines!

Perhaps, if the Fem-Bot was to concentrate?

The subject of this post is vaccination.

Talk about the overreach of medicine. You geeks are now claiming credit
for refrigerators. I think that Sears Roebuck and GE had something to
do with it.

When you are talking about 0.002% of the population.  Looking both ways
before crossing the street would be just as effective.

You have my condolences, for not even attempting to rebut my assertion.

If you think refrigerators were not invented by "geeks," you don't
really know the meaning of the word.

Heck, my high school class had 720 certified geeks.

And, I look at us today and the result of our collective geekiness is

According to AltThink, refrigerators were manufactured by small magnet
sales companies to increase their profits.

No, it isn't.  Refrigeration did not end epidemics of measles, mumps,
or chickenpox.  It did help a lot with mortality, though.

I disagree.  Proper nutrition promotes good
communication between the brain and the
body as well as cell to cell within a subsystem.
Good nutrition prevents disease.  Medicine cures
or controls disease after there is a microbial
breach or a genetic  malfunction.
So nutrition experts are needed as well as
medical doctors. My impression is that chiropractors
are adding nutrition expertise to their "bone cracking"
expertise.

I deciphered that communication once in a person who had meningitis. The
message was:

You moron. If you had bothered to get the vaccine you would not be in
the emergency room.

> Good nutrition prevents disease.

Good nutrition prevents nutrition related disease. Not all disease.
