I saw a book at Barnes and Noble last week on the connection between
mercury and autism....490 pages. Conventional medicine may not accept
a link, but there was a time they refused to believe washing hands was
good medicine!

Wow. 490 pages. What an argument.
See any books on astrology while you were there?

I saw 10 books on UFOs while I was at B&N. Some had pictures.

I came by this website http://www.answerourquestion.org and they are
going to communicate with Dr. Raymond F. Palmer who conducted studies
linking Autism with Mercury... see the question at
http://www.answerourquestion.org/environment/view_question.cgi
The site, as best as I can tell, is going to put the question to a "Pre
Launch" phase which will allow anyone who registers to sign onto the
question like a petition. Giving motivation for the Doctor to answer.
I really want to know what he has to say about it all.
Then they email him until he answers or 30 days is up.
