Anyone have a few extra frequent flyer miles so we can send Jan?

My office tenant, whose kids have ADHD, said she would waive all fees...just
to help out...

Horizon
Thu 3 Feb, 9:00 pm - 9:50 pm  50mins

Living with ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is one of the most
misunderstood of all conditions.

Some people accuse children with ADHD of just being naughty. They
blame the parents and namby-pamby liberals who just won't accept that
some people are just badly brought up and disruptive.

For this edition of Horizon, the programme-makers spent six months
with two families learning to live with ADHD. The result is a moving
and intimate observational film that reveals:

1. What it is really like to have the condition.
2. The medical reasons why it exists.
3. How it is diagnosed.
4. How to tell it apart from normal behaviour.
5. How it often exists with other problems such as dyslexia or dyspraxia.
6. How to deal with it and the range of treatments that are available
  from drugs to parenting advice.
7. Its lows, but also its highs. Many people with ADHD believe that it
  gives them real advantages.

To get to the truth, Horizon follows two families, the Hills and the
Fischers, as they go through diagnosis and therapy.

Believe it or not, behavioral problems in kids are sometimes caused by
food sensitivities. I have heard of kids becoming so well behaved after
adjusting their diet. Talk to a few allergist about this. Food
sensitivities (allergies and intolerances) can trigger asthma, acne,
psoriasis, eczema, migraines, sleep disorders, hayfever, joint pain,
gastrointestinal problems, fatigue, depression, ADHD, and many other
health problems. A good book about this is, "Food Allergies and Food
Intolerance" by Dr. Jonathan Brostoff. You may be able to find
additional books at the library. Most people know very, very little
about food sensitivities. Many Doctors know very little. It is best to
talk to a few allergist.

Allergists are doctors.

True AD/HD, properly diagnosed using the AAP protocol, etc. has absolutely
nothing to do with food allergies, sensitivities, etc.

This guy has been all over Usenet cutting and pasting this
exact same post inresponse to just about every medical
condition imaginable.

He missed alt.support.attn-deficit.

Weird?

I never said that allergist are not doctors. I was referring to many of
the doctors out here who are not allergist. Read my statement
carefully. I said that just because a person is a doctor doesn't mean
that they know much about mild food allergies. It is best to talk to an
allergist about mild food allergies. Personally, I would try to find
out whether there is a controversy in the medical profession concerning
the criteria for the AAP protocol. The opinions of a minority of
doctors may not be heard, even though they may have some valid points.
Besides, some of your other relatives may have hidden food allergies
and not know it. It is worth the time to talk to a few allergist. You
may be amazed at the health problems food can cause.

What about the other point I made, i.e. true AD/HD, properly diagnosed using
the AAP protocol, etc. has absolutely
nothing to do with food allergies, sensitivities, etc.

And, unfortunately, there are a few people who think they know a lot
about food allergies, when all they think they "know" is that a long
list of chronic conditions for which there is no easy cure can be
caused by them, and that willy-nilly testing for all foods followed by
an elimination diet will cure you of everything, when it's simply not
true.

I never said that food sensitivities cause all health problems. A
sizeable number of people have various health problems throughout their
life that are attributed to food sensitivities (allergies and
intolerances). I noticed a dramatic improvement in my health in only 2
days after going on an elimination diet. I told other people and they
had improvement also. You can't find out if you don't try. It is
important to know how to do an elimination diet correctly also. How
many allergist have you talked to about food allergies?

And potentially fool yourself with the fallacy of "post hoc, ergo
propter hoc".

Um, many. You?
