I was reading this

article earlier about Mississippi receiving nearly $14 million to help
people who have HIV and AIDS.  This got me wondering how many people
in the state this money is aimed at.  Unfortunately Google doesn't
appear to know the answer. :(

However, I did find this information from the CDC.

"Mississippi reported 6,376 AIDS cases to CDC, cumulatively from the
beginning of the epidemic through December 2005."

Admittedly, getting AIDS in the US is easier than almost anywhere else
in the world, but it's not what I'm looking for.  And, unfortunately,
this is a cumulative total (as HIV and AIDS figures so often are),
rather than the total number of people alive and living with the
condition now.

So, your homework for tonight: how many people diagnosed HIV+ are
currently living in Mississippi?

The CDC's webpage also list AIDS "Transmission Category," despite the
obvious fact that AIDS isn't infectious.  According to the CDCs
figures, the largest transmission category for AIDS in the state is
MSM (men who f.ck men). :)
