Retirees of the City Of New York received a rude awakening on January 1,
2008, when copayments for HIV medications went through the roof.  Persons
taking Viread we paying a monthly copayment of 20.00.  The new copayment is
now over $160.00.   Worse, those taking Trizivir went from a monthly
copayment of 35.00 to a whopping $600.00 plus per month.  The total monthly
copayment for both medications went up a 1300 %.   Congratulations New York
City and Aetna--- you've figured out how to lower the rate of HIV infections
in New York City--- through attrition of the sick and helpless.

I don't understand how prescription charging works in the US, but if
this change leads to fewer people taking HIV wonder drugs, and the
money being spent on more worthwhile things, it sounds like good news.

Viread: <http://www.aidsmeds.com/archive/Viread_1587.shtml>.

Trizivir: <http://www.aidsmeds.com/archive/Trizivir_1583.shtml>.

Anti-HIV drug regimens containing NRTIs, including Trizivir, can cause
increased fat levels (cholesterol and triglycerides) in the blood,
abnormal body-shape changes (lipodystrophy; including increased fat
around the abdomen, breasts, and back of the neck, as well as
decreased fat in the face, arms, and legs), and diabetes.

Hmmmm, nice.  Sounds like the typical 'AIDS look.'

Sounds like a plan to me.
I say after they pay the $600.00, give em a free con-dumb
and explain why males should not get f.cked by males up the a.s
and send them on their way.
