It appears the Australian HIV witch hunt has spread to Canada.

A dangerous offender hearing scheduled to begin Monday in Windsor,
Ont., for a man who knowingly spread HIV to his sexual partners has
been delayed.

Carl Leone pleaded guilty in April to 15 counts of aggravated sexual
assault for knowingly spreading the deadly virus. Today was to mark
the start of five days of hearings, but Leone's lawyer, Andrew Bradie,
is ill and the hearing start has been pushed to Tuesday.

If the court approves the dangerous offender designation, Leone could
be imprisoned indefinitely.

Leone was told in 1997 by Windsor Essex County Health workers that he
was HIV-positive - seven years before his arrest in June 2004

He faces a tentative sentencing date of Dec. 17.

But he won't be imprisoned.  I assume Canada is too progressive to have
segregated prisons for inmates with infectious diseases, so just like
the USA their policy is to not imprison AIDS patients, officially out
of compassion but unofficially to prevent them from infecting the
other prisoners and costing the government a fortune in health care.

I think they eventually changed the law, but Italy had a compassionate
law that prohibited jailing AIDS patients, so some of them formed a
bank robbery gang and each time they were caught they were immediately
set free to rob more banks.

To All My Democrat Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit,
my best wishes for an
environmentally conscious, socially responsible,
low-stress,non-addictive,gender-neutral celebration of
the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most
enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your
choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect
for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of
others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at
all. I also wish you a fiscally
successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated
recognition of
the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due
respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures
whose contributions to society have helped make America great.
Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor
the only America in the Western Hemisphere.
Also, this wish is made without regard to

the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual
preference of the wished.

To My Republican Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
