Dogs are Talking http://www.dogsaretalking.com ----------------------------- I saw the website above advertised on a San Francisco bus last night, part of a propaganda campaign designed to prevent syphilis among gay men (like syphilis matters when everyone's infected with HIV). The cutsie logo consists of two ugly boxer dogs dressed like a leather daddy couple, and an accompanying slogan re-educates the viewer to get tested for syphilis every 3-6 months. The bus ad then went on to graphically describe how syphilis is transmitted, including via oral and anal sex. Everyone isn't infected with HIV, and they are running public health campaigns to reduce the number of new cases as far as possible. HIV is not the only thing the Department of Public Health worries about, but since you probably don't know, having syphilis increases the risk of getting HIV - the virus can enter through syphilis sores. |
