Anti-meth propaganda on Castro Street...

I don't touch meth but know where to get it.  It seems that Castro Street
in San Francisco is awash in the crystalline powder, with every twink in
town all tweaked out on it and engaging in wild sex orgies and spreading
HIV.  So the self-proclaimed LBGTFHZ leadership has decreed that this is
a community crisis and has begun a propaganda campaign to re-educate the
twinked-out masses to resist crystal meth.

There were "Resist Meth" posters everywhere, with an image reminiscent of
a 1950s-era Soviet propaganda poster depicting a worker promoting the
the socialist revolution, and the inspiring slogan "resist meth" that is
sure to re-educate the proles.  There was another propaganda poster
depicting some sort of crystal meth board game, and a headline in the gay
Bay Area Reporter rag that declared that crystal meth use has "plateued"
and that the re-education campaign should start to reduce use soon.

BTW, on the train home yesterday there was someone who appeared to be on
crystal meth, though not obviously gay.  He just kept walking back and
forth through the cars with a dazed look on his face and he didn't look
like a disheveled homeless person (yet), so I assumed he was on meth.

ROTFLMAO.  Why do you make up this stuff?  Sure there is a problem with
some people using the stuff, but that is why the posters are there, not
because they think everyon is on it.

I.e., the public health campaign is working.  BTW, such posters are put
up by the Department of Public Health, which is not squeamish about
trying to get the attention of 21 year olds out on their own for the
first time in their lives and who sometimes go a bit wild, particularly
when they grew up in sexually represssed Middle America.

More likely he has a programming job and spent the day trying to fix
a particularly nasty bug and was a bit dazed after the experience. :-)

Why do you respond to the ignorant homophobic a.shole?

Because the general public probably doesn't know the following:

Castro & Market has 3 bus lines that cross that intersection, plus
street cars running underground, plus one streetcar line running above
ground, plus another bus route about a block away (Castro & 18th), in
addition to it being a popular destination (restaurants + a movie theater
that shows a wide spectrum of films that you won't see in your local
multiplex).

The Department of Public Health (one but possibly not the only group
or oranization putting up such signs) simply put the signs where lots
of people will see them.

That kind of liberal/bullshit thinking may have worked 25 years ago
but it has no place in today's world. There is not a single
person who has not been told about drugs and AIDS in
2007 Californicate. That money for propaganda would be better
used for construction of new prisons.

I prefer gas chambers to prisons.  Locking up millions of HIV patients will
bankrupt the country, while gassing them hardly costs anything.

Could be that #1 Fan was looking in a mirror and did not realize
it............
