<http://microbiologybytes.wordpress.com/2007/07/09/how-does-hiv-cause-aids/>:
"Although there are still a few people who deny that human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection causes AIDS, they no longer
have any scientific credibility.
[...]
Although the basic biology of HIV is well understood (Basics of the
virology of HIV-1 and its replication. J Clin Virol. 2005 34:
233-244), and there have been many theories about how HIV infection
may result in AIDS, scientists have never had a complete understanding
of the processes by which CD4+ T helper cells are depleted in HIV
infection, and therefore have never been able to fully explain why HIV
destroys the body's supply of these vital cells."
This is laughable. Basically, it's saying that 'credible scientists"
know HIV causes AIDS but they have no idea how.
That's right. After 25 years and spending billions of dollars on HIV
and AIDS research there's still no evidence linking to two, and still
no evidence that the illusive HIV even exists.
"Using a mathematical model containing a series of equations to
describe the processes by which CD4+ cells are produced and
eliminated, the authors showed that if the runaway hypothesis was
correct, then CD4+ cells in HIV infected individuals would fall to low
levels over a few months, not over several years as usually happens.
Therefore they conclude that the runaway hypothesis cannot explain
the slow pace of CD4+ cell depletion in HIV infection.
Of course that leaves open the question of what exactly is going on
between the time someone becomes infected with HIV and the time that
they develop AIDS. Although they have no definitive answer..."
Well, perhaps it's time to revaluate the foundations that the HIV=AIDS
theory are based on. Credible science can't find the link between HIV
and AIDS. It can't even find HIV. Perhaps it's time to take the
hint.
"I spent ten years of my scientific career trying to find out how HIV
causes AIDS, and the ongoing debate shows that we still don't
completely understand this vital issue. Until we do, the prospects for
curing AIDS remain bleak."
That just about says it all. After ten wasted years the theory hasn't
moved any further forward. These people are still pushing the myth
that HIV=AIDS, but have no idea how.
Oh, and the figures on the map at the to of the page are optimistic.
It says 39.5 million people are living with HIV, but suggests the
actual figure could be 47.1 million. I wonder if that includes
India's missing HIV millions?

I would guess that it is going to take a lot of effort and time to
change the current course. I'm hopeful this is the beginning of a new
era but I'll withhold my excitement for now.

I think you fail to comprehend the phrase "scientists don't have a
complete understanding".
This obviously is not the same as saying they haven't a clue.
There isn't a complete understanding of many things - as to how
meningococcal infection causes invasive meningitis, or how diseases
like TB interact with the immune system, for example. But, as with
HIV, there is still overwhelming evidence to indicate that these
infections do actually result in the diseases they cause.
It is you who hasn't a clue.

There's a 'get out' if ever I saw one: "Overwhelming evidence to
indicate..."
>It is you who hasn't a clue.
Really? Well, perhaps you'd like to explain to us what your interest
in HIV and AIDS is. I've asked you before, but that time you
conveniently disappeared from this newsgroup.
