Hello

I am exposed to AIDS through a friend that I see everyday. We do not
have sexual relations and no kissing as well except on the cheek, but
there's a lot of hands touching, hugging, using same objects around
the house.

Today after he left I realized that I had a cut on my finger (bcs I
bite my nails), and now I'm totally freaking out. I'm pretty sure he
wasn't bleeding anywhere but what if the virus was somehow on his
hands? is it possible? or what if he masturbated before he came over
and didn't wash his hands? I'm sorry if I sound too ignorant but if I
don't ask I'm not gonna sleep at night...

Thank you

Maggie

You're insane and need to be hauled off in a straightjacket and taken
to the nearest mental hygiene facility where they will strap you into
a chair, clamp your eyelids open, then proceed to harass you with
propaganda slogans until you have been properly re-educated to learn
that HIV is not only harmless, but actually kind of cool.

It seems unlikely that you could contract HIV through surface contact,
but remember that the HIV virus suppresses the immune system and makes
the patient susceptible to numerous secondary infections that are
definitely more contagious than HIV.  That new strain of drug-resistant
XDR-TB that the teevee was fussing about is epidemic among AIDS
patients around the world, and they are also prone to the viruses that
cause genital and anal warts, not to mention Hepatitis A, Herpes, and
other non-fatal but unpleasant diseases that ARE spread through surface
contact.
