Yep, that pretty sums up the public attitude toward the disease.  The
media puts such a positive spin on the disease that public perception
has gone from that of an icky contagious disease worse than leprosy
or lice, to an alternative lifestyle option that includes such perks
as free medical coverage, foodstamps, and handicap parking stickers.

They even have parades in honor of the disease, the so-called annual
"Gay Pride" parades in major cities around the world, but which I
refer to as "AIDS Parades" because in reality almost every participant
in the parade is HIV+ (and I challenge any of you to prove otherwise).

PLANTATION - A third-grade teacher was arrested at his home for transmitting child pornography
via computer, police said on Tuesday.

Michael A. Postma, 26, was booked at the Broward County Jail on 38 charges of transmission of
child pornography by electronic device, promoting sexual performance by a child, and possession
of child pornography.

You really don't understand the concept of a challenge I see.

Oh, wow, and I thought I was being sarcastic.  But after a very careful
reading, I decided the webpage was a clever parody.

For next year's Gay Pride Parade, I want to harass the SFPD by phoning
them and requesting information on how many rubber gloves and other
hazmat supplies they plan on stockpiling for the parade..

So, given a choice to stand next to someone who has lice, aids or
leprosy, you would choose the lice guy?

Didn't realize the perks!  Wow!  Of course you know it's possible to
get free medical coverage, foodstamps and a handicapped sticker
without having AIDS, right?  I just wanted to make sure you didn't run
right out and start getting boned.  You couldjust become a

You mean because you call it the AIDS parade, that's why eveyrone
goes?  That's not as weird a you worshipping periods on Mentrual Blood
day, which occurs every Dec 25th.  I know, I know, it's called
christmas in most places, but you must be worshipping blood instead,
cause that's what I call it.

WTF?  What does xmas blood worship have to do with anything?  Or are
you assuming that because I am criticizing gays, that I must be some
prejudiced xian?  I'm gay, I despise xianity, and the reason I'm on
the gay-bashing warpath is because I can't have sex because every
other gay person in North America is infected with HIV.  There may be
several dozen drop-outs like me around the world, but so far I've
never met one and every other gay man on earth is essentially a
cracked-out, rutting, AIDS-infected pig on crystal meth.  There is
nothing more to gay culture than porn, anonymous sex in gay bars,
bathhouses, and public toilets, crystal meth and crack cocaine, and
regular visits to the AIDS clinic and welfare office.

Hahaha, you're gay like I'm straight!  Dude, you're telling me, you're
gay, and yet you don't know one gay person who is not a cracked-out,
rutted AIDs infected pig on Crystal Meth.  I have to assume you're

Do you feel that Manson's opinions are valid?  I don't know how much
I'd be fighting to get his input included in this thread.

I downloaded an interesting video last night via file Torrent.  It's
called 'HIV-AIDS - Fact Or Fraud.'  The general thrust behind the
programme is that HIV is a very old virus that's been in the
population for hundreds of years and is totally harmless.  AIDS is
cause by lifestyle choices and latterly AZT.

And to take up your point: to be fair when people are told they're
going to die, die, die and have all the lies that comes with an HIV+
diagnosis heaped on them, they probably deserve a few perks.

Having said that, I don't think a few freebies would persuade me to
take AZT or its toxic friends.

Where in the world is there evidence for that?

Clue: there ain't none. AZT doesn't cause AIDS. "Lifestyle" doesn't
cause AIDS. Drugs, recreational or otherwise, don't cause AIDS. None
of that causes CD4 counts to drop to zero.

It's just so breathtakingly braindead stupid.

Perks should not include being willfully stupid.

Then, if you are HIV+, you'll probably wind up with AIDS and die soon.

Sorry--it's just that horribly simple and I've seen it happen time and
again. Too often to people who actually WANT ARV therapy but can't get
it because of the greed of pharma.

How about Glaxo Wellcome?  See
http://www.oldamericancentury.org/azt.htm

"WARNING:  RETROVIR (ZIDOVUDINE) [AZT]  MAY  BE ASSOCIATED WITH
HEMATOLOGIC TOXICITY INCLUDING GRANULOCYTOPENIA  AND  SEVERE ANEMIA

ANTIRETROVIRAL NUCLEOSIDE ANALOGUES, INCLUDING RETROVIR AND
ZALCITABINE, AND ARE POTENTIALLY FATAL ( SEE WARNINGS)." - from Glaxo
Wellcome AZT product information.

The claim that AIDS is caused by lifestyle choices is partly based on
the sort of groups that are affected by it.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.  HIV is alleged to
suppress the immune system.  There are drugs that do the same.  Organ
transplant patients, for example, are given them to prevent rejection.

>It's just so breathtakingly braindead stupid.

Name calling doesn't prove your case.

>>Having said that, I don't think a few freebies would persuade me to
>>take AZT or its toxic friends.

>Then, if you are HIV+, you'll probably wind up with AIDS and die soon.

Here's an interesting point: if I lived in the US I would have AIDS.
But because I live in the UK I don't.  How's that for logic?

>Sorry--it's just that horribly simple and I've seen it happen time and
>again. Too often to people who actually WANT ARV therapy but can't get

Yes, it is sad that people who want the drugs are prevented from
getting them.  Especially as I'm having them thrown at me and I'm
having to think up imaginative excuses not to accept them.

I appreciate there are other points of view, and I do not believe that
money should prevent someone following the medical path they've chosen
to follow.

Neither of those reflects a loss of CD4+ T lymphocytes. Toxicities?
You bet. But not the hallmark of AIDS.

It'd be great if you even approached a "clue" about this stuff.

Are you suggesting that toxicity has no affect on the immune system?

Now how in the world did you twist those words out of what I stated?
However, these toxicities, granulocytopenia and anemia, are NOT
associated with the loss of adaptive, specific immunity seen in AIDS.

>What is the hallmark of AIDS?

HIV infection which is associated with a steady and persistent decline
in CD4+ T lymphocytes. This deterioration of cell-mediated immunity
results in dramatically increased risk of opportunistic infections.

I'm not really sure what your point is.  AZT is toxic to the immune
system.  People who take AZT go on to develop AIDS.  Doesn't that
speak for itself?

Wow...you cannot possibly be that stupid. People, if they take AZT,
take it with several other drugs.  And nearly 20 years ago, when
people took just AZT alone, it was because they had ALREADY developed
AIDS. Even now, many people don't start antivirals til AFTER they
develop AIDS.

Which is a loss of CD4 cells. Which there is not one smidgen of
evidence anywhere that AZT causes anthing but an increase in CD4 cells
(in combination with other antivirals).

Yes it says something like that in the label warning and your point is? Ever
read the labels on Cancer Chemo drugs? If AZT is so dangerous how do you
explain the thousands of patients like me who have been taking AZT daily
since 1996 and do not suffer from severe Anemia, or Lactic Acidosis or any
of the other rare side effects of the drug?

I had a count of 16 CD4 cells in 1995 when I was diagnosed with AIDS
suffered from PCP 3 times before 1996 when I started my first drug regimen
which contained AZT,Epivir and Saquinavir. I now have over an 200 CD4 cell
count and low but not undetectable viral loads. So here you have someone who
has been ingesting what you call deadly chemo therapy drugs on a daily basis
for over a decade. How could I possibly be alive if what you claim about
HAART drug treatment is true? Yes the drugs have side effects, yes I have
experienced some of them the most serious being nerve damage caused by Zerit
that requires me to take narcotic pain medications to manage. However
without said treatment I would not have survived the year of 1996 with out
question.
