They ONLY test for antibody response to HIV. SO that's a bit
disturbing.
Given the many scandals in the blood supply during the 80s and early
90s during which time many people with hemophilia were infected, the
fact that donors aren't screened via PCR is a bit disturbing if not
surprising.

I'd check a more recent document.
NAT testing has been used to screen blood donations in Australia for
a number of years.
This was partly prompted by this case.

Fingers crossed--I imagine they do use PCR more routinely these days.
