Okay, so I talked to the doctor about the night sweats.  She says it might
be that there is a higher viral load in my sperm, and perhaps we can start
two medicnes that "targets the sperm."  Do you know what medicine she is
talking about?  Thank you!

You didn't ask her?
Just Greg - 14 Oct 2006 16:44 GMT
No, she just mentioned it in passing.  Then I got home and thought about
doing the research but I didn't know the names of the meds....

The medicine is called potassium cyanide, and the dosage is 500mg 3x a day.

We can't read your doctor's mind.

Stop assuming it's HIV-related.  ANYBODY can catch an infection
and get night sweats -- not just people with HIV.  Your doctor
should be looking first for commonplace diseases that anybody
can catch before looking for unusual and exotic conditions.

Six years is a long time to have an "infection" that isn't HIV related.

>Six years is a long time to have an "infection" that isn't HIV related.

Something about you didn't quite ring true: either your doctor
is incompetent, or her lines are a work of fiction written by
somebody who doesn't know much about HIV and AIDS.  So I took a
look at some of your other recent postings:

http://groups.google.ca/group/misc.health.aids/msg/5941ad7baf1f2410

I now have a better idea of what your condition is.  It could
be MPD or a new form of Munchausen's syndrome.  If the latter,
"Munchausen's by wire" might be a good name for it.

Why don't they just cut your nuts off?

You don't need em. ya know.

If it will cut down your viral load, then its a win-win.

Appearance of HIV Antibodies After Exposure, and HIV Testing to
Determine Status:

A human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) test detects antibodies to HIV in
the blood.
After the original exposure, it takes between 2 weeks and 6 months for
antibodies to HIV to appear in the blood. The period between exposure
and the time when antibodies to HIV can be detected is called the
seroconversion or "window" period. During this period, an HIV-infected
person can transmit the HIV virus, even though a test will not detect
any antibodies.   Several tests can find antibodies to the HIV virus or
genetic material (RNA) . These tests include :

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). This test is usually the
first one used to detect HIV antibodies. If antibodies to HIV are
present (positive), the test is usually repeated to confirm the
diagnosis. If ELISA is negative, no further testing needed. This test
has a low chance of having a false result after the first few weeks
that a person is infected.

Western blot. This test is more difficult than the ELISA to perform,
but it is done to confirm the results of two positive ELISA tests.

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR). This test finds either the genetic
material DNA or RNA of HIV. PCR testing is not done as frequently as
antibody testing because it requires technical skill and expensive
equipment. This test may be done in the days or weeks after exposure to
the virus. Genetic material may be found even if other tests are
negative for the virus.

Testing is often done at 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months after exposure
to determine that a person is not infected.

I forgot to mention that the information on my post about HIV lab
testing (above) was quoted from the Quest Lab patient information site
(link provided below) , so anyone who feels that  the information is
incorrect or " nonsense", please send a complaint letter to Quest. They
are the largest national lab and do most of the HIV tests nation wide.
