After roughly a year of difficulty posting material to Usenet such that
it reached the Google Groups archive, it has "come to my attention" that
it is seriously corrupted: i.e., the archives of past posts are being
tampered with such that the historical record of who posted what is
altered. The below post originally appeared from my own personal
account with teleport.com, but has been altered (more recently than not,
i.e. roughly within a month) to appear as though it emanated from my
then-employer. In other words, Google Groups is seriously in violation
both of their own terms of service and copyright laws: caveat emptor
with material received from them. Thank you.

Mr. Hu's attempt at broaching the subject of safe *anal **sex* blew up in his
face, but I still think the question is relevant. I saw plenty of
angry responses to the suggestion that *anal **sex* is "unnatural" (a silly
thing to worry about in a naturally unnatural society), but few
if any factual answers to the question: can *anal **sex* be made safe? I
don't see it as an attack on homosexuals, but rather a question of vital
importance for homosexuals and heterosexuals who choose to engage in
*anal* intercourse.
As a clueless straight boy with only an average knowledge of *HIV*
prevention, I'll let the experts answer my questions instead of pushing
forth my own theory. Hopefully the questions are fair enough to warrant
reasonable answers.
1) Are condoms designed for vaginal use safe for *anal **sex*?
2) Are "double-strength" condoms designed for *anal **sex* useful?
3) If no 2. is true, are said condoms widely available?
4) Do condoms designed for *anal **sex* protect against *HIV* successfully?
5) Do most people who engage in *anal **sex* use appropriate condoms?
I am not questioning the healthiness of *anal **sex* in general here, just its
relation to *HIV* transmission.

Well, if I'm supposed to be the vanishing commissar I suppose that might
be required of me -- something is being required of my ex-boss which
really can't be according to defamation laws, and something is being
expropriated from me which really can't be according to intellectual
property laws. In other words, why doesn't Google go off in the bushes
rather than...

I'm sorry, I might have actually been trying to be funny --
I got out of that habit for a while.
