Matthias Rath is finally being prosecuted for medical fraud.
Matthias Rath created the impression that his vitamin preparations
could cure patients with acute cancer. He peddled his concoctions
online falsely claiming that they could cure cancer. Through his
internet side he also "created the impression" that his concotions
could cure acute cancer. This is however not the case and Rath knows
this according the the Hamburg department of justice.
Actually, I think Rath believes in his own alternate version of
reality.
The court case against Rath started on the 13th of this month. You
would expect to find something about this on his website. Wrong.
On the 19th Rath publishes this
http://www4ger.dr-rath-foundation.org/DIE_FOUNDATION/20060719_israel_libanon.htm
Rath claims that the "pharma-cartel" is deliberately starting a world
war so that they can rule the world. Bush, Merkel, Blair are just
puppets of the pharmaceutical industry cartel. This man is just plain
nuts.
Meanwhile despite apparently closing down his South Africa business he
is still the darling of the heath minister.

According to Charity Bhengu the court case in Germany has nothing to do
with Rath's operations in SA. ??
Rath makes false claims about the ability of his pills to cure cancer.
He encouraged Dominik's parents to stop chemotherapy. The boy dies.
Rath makes false claims about the ability of exactly the same pills to
cure AIDS. He encouraged AIDS patients to stop ARV therapy. AIDS
patients die
When is Rath finally going to be put in jail (or psychiatric
institution)?

Shiiiiiiiiiit !!! That's too bad! We know that nobody on chemotherapy ever died.

Shiiiiiiiiiit !! That's too bad! We know that nobody on ARVs ever died.
Don't we, Noble?
Hey Noble, tell me. How much do you get paid to spread your sh.t over the Web?

The difference is that honest doctors a) present real evidence that
chemotherapy improves the chances of survival b) provide honest
estimates of the chances of chemotherapy being successful.
In this case the doctors were honest in saying what Dominik's chances
of survival would have been with chemotherapy. Dominik's parents looked
for someone offering better odds. Unfortunately they fell into the
hands of a charlatan who offered false hope. Rath has produced no
evidence that his vitamin preparations have any significant effect.
Dominik was supposed to be scientific proof for the efficacy of his
vitamins except he died with a massive tumour in his chest.

Again honest doctors a) provide evidence that ARVs increase the life
expectancy of people with AIDS b) are honest that ARVs are not a cure
and that eventually most people infected with HIV will eventually
progress to AIDS and die c) in long term ARV treatment a significant
proportion of patients will develop serious life threatening drug
toxicity.
Rath on the other hand tells lies about the benefits of his vitamins
and denies the benefits of ARVs.
The supposed evidence for the efficacy of Rath's vitamins for the
treatment of AIDS was a "clinical trial" self-published on his own
website except at least two the people put forward as "scientific
proof" died shortly after stopping ARVs and starting his vitamins.

I somehow don't think Jannie has the intellectual capacity or integrity
to be able to distinguish quackery of the Rath type from the reality of
orthodox medical practice and research. He certainly has a massive wall
eye where it comes to anything that threatens his cosy preconceptions.

The bizarre thing is that Jan does not believe in the whole "germ
theory of disease" while Rath claims that HIV exists and causes AIDS.
http://www.aids-vitamins.org/virusornot.htm
I can only conclude that Jan defends this quack because Rath is
anti-establishment in terms of his false claims that vitamins are more
effective than ARVs in treating HIV infection.
This requires some degree of mental disconnection.

Excellent.
There is NO cure for AIDS. For Rath to c laim this is bullshit.
There ARE treatments. A multivitamin is an excellent treatment. If
people were smart, they'd get them out FREE to everyone, have more
people get tested for EARLIER treatment with a multi. It can slow
progression substantially.
It does NOT cure AIDS.
A multi will not STOP progression.
When a person progresses, antiviral therapy will improve the situation
dramatically. There are side effects. Continued use of a multi may
help limit those side effects.
ARV do not cure AIDS--but they are an excellent treatment.
People that say a multi is worthless are wrong. a.sholes that say a
multi is a CURE are deluded or lying. a.sholes that say ARV should be
avoided are committing some degree of murder.

The whole vitamins OR ARVs is a construct of Rath and other charlatans.
Good nutrition including vitamin supplements is a standard part of
"orthodox" medicine.
Wafaie Fawzi and others have done research on the role of vitamin
supplements for people with AIDS. Their work was misrepresented by
Rath.
