Faster HIV Test

Boston Medical Center is offering a new type of HIV screening to
both inpatients and those that walk into their clinic.
The OraQuick test offers accurate results in just
20 minutes from one drop of blood.
Traditional testing can take up to two weeks for results, and research
shows about 30 percent of those who are tested,
never return to get the results.
"We can start with a patient that is unaware of their status,
suggest to that patient that they may have HIV, and get them into
care all within a matter of 20 or 30 minutes,"
said Dr. Jeffrey Greenwald.
Experts hope the new test will help identify some of the 300,000
people in the United States who have HIV and do not know it.

It's just a matter of time before potential sex partners together can
go to the drug store shelves, get the new test kits and know each
others' results. Once we overcome the resistance of people making a
living from that everyone needs counselling.
