AIDS is nothing but a ‘Blessing’ of modern age

We can call it a sexual Glasnost. A world where buggery, bestiality,
adultery, incest and all such diabolic deeds of a human being have
made even devil blush with himself. The story begins with a fanciful
wish of making this world the be-all and end-all of fun and merriment.
They had a desire to make it a paradise, it turned hellish even for
hedonists hit not by a disease, but by a tragedy, by a punishment, by
a fatal, mortal dread we call AIDS. God save them. Dr. G. R. Khan

Religious Morality:
God has infused sexual desire in humans and has given them an ability
either to restrict it in accordance with the Divine standards of
morality and responsibility or let it loose and fulfill it blindly.
Human sexuality is considered as part of human identity as humans are
distinguished from animals by will and reason such that they can
control their behavior which in other species is governed solely by
instinct. Human behavior is a result of instinct and intellect. The
human sex drive without conscience seeks only immediate gratification
and momentary satisfaction; therefore, human beings are swayed by
insistent and strong impulses that fetch long-term bitter results. To
be human is to use intellect and allow it to select the time, place,
partner and procedure. To be promiscuous is to be sub-human.
The sexual aspect of life has three basic purposes: conservation of
the human race, fulfillment of sexual desire, and attaining mutual
satisfaction. Like other affairs of life, Islam maintains balance in
sexual affairs as well. Islamic morality places sexual gratification
in the context of marriage and demands that all sexual activities be
channeled into marriages of faithful love that promises stable and
lasting happiness than momentary pleasure. Sexual activity within
marriage is encouraged in Islam as healthy and praiseworthy because it
is the best and most honourable way to guarantee satisfaction of the
human sexual desire, preserves one’s moral integrity, and prevents men
and women from seeking sexual pleasure illicitly. Marriage and family
serve as tools for ensuring social reproduction that includes
procreation, raising and socializing children; food, clothing, and
shelter for family members; and caring for the sick and elderly.
Indeed morality is the accumulated wisdom of mankind regarding what is
healthy and human whereas perversion and promiscuity is deviation from
it. Promiscuity and perversion drastically affects lives of
individuals, deeply disturbs the community, and endangers the future
of society.
When human beings do not stick to any social or moral religious
values, the sole purpose of their life become the fulfillment of their
desires. Their vain desires become the god, which they obey and submit
to instead of One True God. Having rejected God and overthrown the
wisdom of religion, modern men and women fling themselves at the altar
of false god, the idol of sexual gratification. They resort to all
sorts of immoral sexual activities like fornication, adultery,
homosexuality, bestiality, pornography, prostitution, rape, incest,
etc. This god offers a garden of sensual delights, a freedom more
delicious than Eden’s apple, but hides the horrible consequences of
ruined lives.
It is obvious that natural urges can never be suppressed. If a
religion shuts its eyes to the natural urges of human beings, its
followers, sooner or later, revolt against it; destroying all
religious tenets in the wake of the rebellion. The Church made a
serious error in suppressing the most natural and perpetual urge of
human beings. Christianity ignored the claims of human nature,
extolling the idea of celibacy. Those who could not suppress their
natural urges, indulged in sinful acts secretly; others revolted
against the church and started the reformation movement which
abandoned celibacy. And when the Christian church lost its influence
in social affairs of the Western world, a separation between the
church and the state took place. Christian West started the sexual
revolution in reaction to the sexual suppression. With the compromise
of many churches, the place of moral leadership became vacant or even
occupied by the immoral.  The church became follower and not leader,
and whatever the people wanted was automatically sanctioned by the
church. It turned Christian societies into the most permissive,
libertine and undisciplined ones, the humankind had ever seen.
Patterns of sexual behavior that had been condemned over history until
the near past, laissez-faire society accommodated them and they
acquired legitimacy. The sexual fantasies became realities.
Religion is not made, it is absolute and divine, and it is received
and obeyed. Divine moral values do not have any confusion or vagueness
about what is lawful and what is unlawful. The moralities and the
immoralities specified will remain so forever, and cannot be diluted
or manipulated or rationalized according to anyone’s whim.

The Ideology:
The most interesting thing is that immorality is introduced as
modernity. With a systematic propaganda the ordinary man is induced to
believe in the normality of immorality; being immoral is a personal
choice, which should be considered very natural. When it is considered
normal by an individual, he or she is considered an open-minded,
modern and notable person. The more one accepts any sort of immorality
as legitimate, the more he or she becomes an open-minded modern and
notable person. In order to be such a person, one has to overcome his
or her old fashioned way of thinking. A totally morally corrupt and
characterless person might easily occupy a respectable position and
earn high status in the society. No matter how corrupted, their
lifestyle is appreciated, admired, and imitated. Due to this so called
superiority, people in a state of ignorance feel an inconceivable
admiration for the elite of the society. Once a person defends or
criticizes any action or behavior on a moral basis, he or she runs the
risk of being branded as unscientific, irrational, and intolerant.
Those who try to keep their chastity may find themselves isolated from
the society. If they do not act according to irreligious social rules,
public opinion will compel them to change their ways and in the face
of this pressure their self-discipline crumbles. Thus conditioned, the
young person starts to seek sexual relationship outside marriage as
lawful.
In fact the irreligious way of life, introduced, as modernism is not
an independent philosophy at all. It is a thought system, which is
prompted to destroy religious values and to establish a social system
in opposition to a moral system. The system either attempts to destroy
certain concepts like purity, chastity, fidelity, and loyalty, or
distort the meaning of others incorporating them in its own system in
order to mislead people. In this system chastity is ridiculed as a
prudish superstition, and loyalty is stigmatised as a hypocrisy.This
system describes courage as indulging in the most extreme perversions,
and honesty as engaging openly in immoral activities. When divine
rules are no more considered practicable, moral understanding will
differ greatly from one person to another. An immoral attitude
rejected by one, may well be perfectly normal for someone else.
The sexual revolution was a development in the modern world that saw
the collapse of the values of a morality rooted in religion. This
erosion of faith set the stage for the “sexual revolution”. It raised
permissive societies and attitudes that were accepting of greater
sexual freedom all over the world. It started in close association
with atheism (denial of God) and micro-theism (reduced Godliness).
Destoevsky said, ‘without God everything is permissible’. With the
fading of the image of God, and with the progress of science and the
miraculous accomplishments of science and technology, the stage was
set in favour of a replacive ideology: science worship and the
deification of the human mind. Microtheism, we acknowledge God and
worship Him but on our own terms, was born and still engulfs most of
the West, and those who ape them elsewhere. The minimization of the
role of God that He exists and may be visited at the places of worship
once in a week but He should never step out into our world and
interfere with our personal lives, social behavior, individual
freedoms, civil rights and indeed our economic, political or military
affairs. This ideology reigned and still does.
The ideology made its appearance under the slogan: ‘Morality without
religion’. The very values religion endorsed were recommended, but not
necessarily through religion. They pretended the same moralities could
be attained without necessarily ascribing them to religion and called
them “unattached moralities”. The hidden intent of course was to lure
the masses through respecting their values-into accepting another
arbiter than their faith. Once the authority of religion was cast
aside, tampering with the values then becomes an easy matter. Modern
man has the right to punish those who break the law, but he is not
ready to give this right to God.
Religion was inflicted another blow with the rise of communism in
Russia. The extensive corruption of both the church and throne leading
to extensive misery and bitterness in the nation, paved the way to the
communist take over and the dictatorship of an ideology that denies
God altogether and hence religion, and hinged human destiny to a
purely materialistic approach with hardly any room for values. Atheism
is the official religion, whereas communism meets with resistance in
the West, atheism does not. An important product thereof is the
movement of secular humanism, maintaining that human values should be
made by humans, without heed or need of any supernatural reference.
With ‘mind’ acting God, human suggestibility was utilized to influence
it. Old values become taboo. Immoral sex became more and more socially
accepted. This would have not been that tragic if the values were kept
intact but merely disobeyed.  What was immoral a short while before
became normal and even commendable.  
The sexual revolution was an outgrowth of a process in recent history
that gave rise to permissive societies and attitudes that accepted
greater sexual freedom and sex experimentation captured in the phrase
“Free Sex” i.e. having sex anytime, anyplace and with anyone. As a
result men had sex with women and men; with little girls and young
boys; with a single partner and in large groups; with total strangers
and immediate family members; and with a variety of domesticated
animals. They have achieved orgasm with inanimate and inanimate
objects. In deed “super creation of God” has turned into an object of
sexual pleasure aspiring, dreaming and thinking mainly of sexual
relations.

Historical Developments:
Sigmund Freud (1856-1939), an Austrian neurologist, developed a
psychoanalytic theory based on sexuality. According to this theory,
people are strongly influenced by innate sexual and aggressive drives.
Every minute of our lives we are sexual beings and that the ego causes
us to convert them by sublimation - diverting them into other modes of
behaviour. Freud referred to the biological urges as the “libido”.
Freudian sexuality revolutionized an entire culture’s sex image that
lead to new age of sexual freeness. There have been significant shifts
in social attitudes, behaviours and institutional regulations
surrounding sexuality since Freud opened the door to the bedroom.
In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Alfred Charles Kinsey (1894-1956),
an American biologist published two surveys of modern sexual behavior,
namely Sexual Behavior in the Human Male and Sexual Behavior in the
Human Female. At the time, open discussion of sexuality and specific
sexual practices, especially sexual behaviors that did not lead to
procreation, were severely restricted by public morality. Kinsey’s
books, which among other things reported findings on the frequency of
various sexual practices including homosexuality, caused a furore. In
Kinsey’s view there was no moral difference between a man having sex
with a woman or a sheep. Values, ethics, and morals had no meaning to
him. These studies set the backdrop for a new generation to explore
their sexuality in a free and open way.
During the 1950s one particular singer and actor, Elvis Presley
introduced a very fast style of dancing and performing, using his body
gyrations in a sexually suggestive manner. He was dubbed “Elvis the
Pelvis” for his trade-mark hip movements. Millions of young women
became his fans and he was their “Idol”. On stage and in concert
thousands of young females would squeal, shriek, and cry at his
performances. He has been noted as being a prime factor in the “loss
of inhibition” and “youth rebellion” of the 1950s and 1960s.
The first issue of Hugh Hefner’s Playboy magazine - the first
mass-marketed sex magazine was published in 1953. Playboy became
increasingly popular during the sexual revolution of the 1960s
depicting nudity and sexual acts. The company opened the first of its
chain of night clubs, Playboy Club in 1960 offering dining and “male
entertainment,” and featured female staff members known as Playboy
bunnies. The famous Playboy Bunnies set a trend. Men came to be
entertained by topless women at night-clubs which also hosted “peep
shows. So the whole generation growing up in the 1960s, developed a
radically different attitude toward sex than their forebears.
An era began with the legalization of birth control in early 1960s and
preceded with the invention of oral contraceptive “the Pill”. New
methods of contraception allowed men and women to gain control of
their own reproduction. The cheap availability of rubber condoms for
men and both IUD’s and oral contraceptives for women added to a sense
of freedom from pregnancy resulting from sexual intercourse.
Pre-marital sex was openly adopted and if pregnancies did occur then
abortion was easily available. New drugs like Viagra helped in
increase of potency. Psychedelic drugs like LSD, marijuana, cocaine
and alcohol loosened inhibitions. Teen-age drug abuse became rampant.
Use of various sex toys became normal. Sado-masochism gained
popularity. Gay and Lesbian started coming out of the closet in the
cities. Bathers achieved the right to be topless or nude at beaches.
Developments in the fields of photography and cinematography,
particularly improvements in camera technology for recording moving
and still-life images of people, hastened the spread of movies and
photographic images. New techniques in advertising aided the rise of
the film industry creating a mass market for attractive images first
in black-and-white and then in multicolour. Sex was used to sell
everything from cars to toothpaste.
In 1962 the entrance of James Bond films was a perfect fit for new
ideals. Bond was simply a sensualist with the good fortune to run into
gorgeous women equally interested in sex for its own sake. Agent 007
was the icon of the sexual revolution, the embodiment of sexual
freedom. The super-spy Age 007 shoots, all the while kissing the girls
and saving the world.
Around 1965, fashion went crazy, with a slew of new styles that
emphasized women’s sexuality. The mini-skirt took the world by storm,
revealing leg, thigh and sometimes more. Plunging necklines, see-thru
tops and the rejection of the bra, gave men much more to drool over.
The feminist movement started with slogans of “burn the bra”. The
stage was set for the annual “Miss World” and “Miss Universe”
contests. Girls having a beautiful body are rewarded and ‘crowned’ not
for anything they achieved but for a thing they had by birth. By
implication the less beautiful girls are punished for no fault of
theirs!

The Dead End:
The results of the sexual revolution are now visible enough to all who
have eyes to see. Most of the great social problems of the day are the
result of the abuse or misuse of sex. Free sex has led to tragedy. The
sexual revolution promised a paradise on earth, but it created instead
a wilderness of broken famalies, divorce, child sexual abuse,
sadosexual violence, teen pregnancy, massive abortions, and a cocktail
of sexual transmission infections. Each day thousands of teenagers bid
a goodbye to their virginity. In the process, many become pregnant and
many more contract a sexually transmitted infection (STI). The “Sexual
Revolution” with its contraception and abortion has not liberated
women at all, but enslaved them to chemicals that distort the natural
functions of their bodies and grisly surgical procedures that can
leave them scarred for life both physically and emotionally.
Unfortunately, an entire generation of young women has not been
learned that!
The problem of sexually transmitted disease soon came in the wake of
the increasing promiscuity. These diseases pass from one person to
another primarily during sexual contact. The gruesome diseases include
gonorrhoea, syphilis, herpes, warts, chlamydia and many more. Some
people thought that with the arrival of antibiotics, infections such
as gonorrhoea and syphilis are things of the past. But they were not.
Until the early eighties the large outcry in America was the fear of
genital herpes, in view of its possibly fatal effect and its
incrimination with cancer. But worse was yet to come. The most serious
problem was and is the burgeoning AIDS epidemic beginning in the 80’s
and continuing today. In 1981 the unexpected, unusual and lethal type
of infection of the lung (pneumocystis carinii pneumonia) and cancer
(Kaposi’s sarcoma) occurred in five young homosexual men of Los
Angeles. The disease was soon given its current name: Aquired
Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) as it developed in subjects
previously healthy and immunologically normal. Because it proved both
lethal and transmissible, it was made a notifiable disease. No cancer
kills as surely and as rapidly as AIDS, and that transmission of the
disease, originally was through sexual intercourse. Thus a new
epidemic of an entirely new disease, transmissible, always fatal,
medically uncontrollable, plaguing the most advanced countries with a
fatality rate of 100% was born. Since then the number of patients is
growing exponentially and for which no effective therapy or
vaccination exists.
As Muslims, we are fortunate to have in our culture and way of life
the essential elements of an effective solution. The importance and
wisdom of these instructions become even clearer today in the light of
medical evidence pointing to the role of transmission and spread of
the AIDS infection. Decency, modesty and virtuous sexual morality are
vital factors in controlling the virus causing the AIDS epidemic and
its spread. Figures published by the World Health Organization on the
spread of AIDS in the world show very clearly that Islamic values and
traditions, although not fully adhered to or respected, represent a
strong and effective means of prevention against the spread of AIDS in
Muslim countries. Rates of infection in Muslim countries are far lower
than those in non-Muslim ones, while infection is much lower also
among Muslims living in non-Muslim countries.
