Actually, I agree with you on this point. Not entirely, of course.
Some industry-sponsored research has validity--but it is often turned
into a glossy ad before it's even finished.
It wasn't ALWAYS that bad--and a lot of clinical research was done at
universities, hospitals or at the NIH. Corruption wasn't as bad as it
developed in the 90s.
Rather than just kvetch about it--what can be DONE?
First, end the "privatization" of healthcare delivery and discovery.
Increase public expenditure. Restore IP to rewarding DISOVERERs
(reasonably, not exorbitantly) and NOT stockholders. Price controls on
drug, devices, procedures. Increase pay for nurses. Single payer
healthcare system.
These are all ways to DEAL with the problems posed by distorted
clinical research by for-profit entities.
First, we have to get rid of the wretched scum like Frist, Bush,
Cheney, DeLay and all the other corrupt and/or incomepetent scumbags
(democrats too) that are blocking the will of the people to suit their
corporate masters and the Parasites of Wall Street.

Congressional oversight is a critical and it has broken down completely
in the hands of the Republican elite and corporate slavemasters.
Revolution must be at hand.
