This image shows the 3% figure is based on world-wide statistics.
There is no reason to assume it's correct for the third world.  We also
don't know what period of years it is based on, and we have no reason
to believe it's constant over the years. We don't know what period of
years apathykills.org used for its claim of 25 million child deaths
from AIDS.  3% is rounded from a correct value somewhere between 2.5%
and 3.5%, so the mortality you calculate from it is up to 17% wrong,
and *then* you inflate this already inaccurate figure by 20% to call it
"nearly a billion."

But all these small lies appear to have been put there to camouflage
a whopper.

When I tried to check apathykills.org I found that it doesn't exist.
When I check the Wayback Machine, I find that apathykills.org existed
for a few months in 2003, but the archived home page reveals nothing
about what the site was about.  A google search for pages mentioning
apathykills.org only found the site where the domain name is for sale,
and pages by AIDS dissidents saying that 25 million children have
died from AIDS.

So what we have here is a "paradox" constructed using figures from two
sources, one of which comes up blank when I try to find out anything
about its identity or reputation.

But wait... There's more!

When I tried to find alternate sources for the same information
with a google query ("25 million children" hiv OR aids), I found
many pages talking, not about 25 million children dying of AIDS, but
25 million children orphaned (losing one or both parents) by AIDS.
These weren't children that had been orphaned, but children that
will have been orphaned by 2010, based on trends.  The claim that
25 million children have died of AIDS looks like another masterpiece
of distortion from the AIDS dissident "movement" (a term that always
reminds me of something extruded.)

In order to be embarrassed at something stupid you've done, you need
to have enough intelligence to recognize that it was stupid.  In order
to be embarrassed by something dishonest you've done, you need to have
a conscience.  AIDS dissidents never show any sign of embarrassment.
