Excellent post, Paul.
One must keep in mind that the longer one takes a
drug, the liklier it is that one will experience some
or most of the "side effects" (quotations are
important as these are NOT merely side effects,
but rather are the DIRECT effects of these
nasty immune killing drugs).

Two HIV drug ads misleading, says FDA
Promotions for Kaletra omit life-threatening safety risks
Updated: 7:33 p.m. ET Nov. 2, 2004
WASHINGTON - Two Abbott Laboratories Inc. promotions for HIV-fighting drug
Kaletra exaggerated benefits and left out information about
life-threatening safety risks, U.S. regulators charged in a letter made
public Tuesday.
The Food and Drug Administration ordered the company to stop circulating
the advertisements immediately. One ran in POZ, a magazine aimed at people
with the HIV virus, and another was posted in restrooms, the FDA said.
“These promotional pieces overstate the effectiveness of Kaletra and omit
.. material information about the risks associated with Kaletra,” the FDA
wrote in a letter that was dated Oct. 29 and posted on the agency’s Web
site.
Officials at Abbott did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
No evidence of long-term benefits
The FDA said both promotions implied Kaletra could help patients with HIV,
which causes AIDS, stay healthy for five years.
Each ad featured pictures of a man looking healthy and captions indicating
the images were taken over a four- or five-year period.
Text on the ads asked “Where do you see yourself in five years?” and urged
patients to discuss Kaletra with their doctors.

___________
COMMENT. Every day the evidence that Haart medications rather than helping
people are the REAL cause of immune suppression and death. Even the CDC
now admits that 48.2% of ALL U.S. 'AIDS mortalities' are really from
medication side effects like liver failure and heart disease.

This doesn't mean the drug doesn't work--just that Abbott is a lying
bunch of sh.ts.
As far as toxicities go? You bet! They can be terrible. I've known
very few people who had no trouble at all--ever. A lot that did fine
with few problems. But almost everyone has some trouble. They're
toxic. We need better treatments.
But they WORK better than NO treatment. No treatment means AIDS and
death, as millions around the world have discovered. The
pharmaceutical industry and the US Trade Representative under the
guidance and encouragement of the US government and George W. Bush
have done their level best to assure NO one ever access the very low
cost generic medications. Meaning millions suffer and die needlessly.
That, to my mind, is genocide.
So you're right that the industry has a lot to account for--but you
miss the very worst of what they do.

"Abbott is a lying

As are all the others and the CDC.
Drugs do work....they kill you.
